Habitat:
Ephippigerida asella inhabits dry and warm pastures in medium-high altitudes between app. 800 and 1900m. I recorded it together with Ctenodecticus thymi in thyme-rich pastures.
Life cycle:
The adults appear between July and October. They walk on the ground or rest on low shrubs like Thymus or herbs.
Remarks:
Ephippigerida asella has a very limited distribution in the eastern spanish Pre-Pyrenees approximately north of Solsona. It is very close to E. areolaria and may be a subspecies of it or merely conspecific.
