Habitat:
Lluciapomaresius stalii inhabits especially pastures and mountain slopes that are rich in brooms, in altitudes between 800 and 2400m. It is also found in woodland edges and forb-rich screes etc. The densities may be very high in suitable sites with dense broom stands.
Life cycle:
The adults appear between late June and October. They usally rest on the broom shrubs and draw attention to themselves by the short, sharp sounds of the males. The animals also descend to the ground when feeding, easpecially in autumn when the brooms offer no more suitable food. I observed feeding e.g. on Rumex acetosella and other herbs, but also on dead individuals of the own species. Oviposition occurs in the soil.
Remarks:
Lluciapomaresius stalii occurs in some mountain ranges of central and northwestern Spain and northern Portugal. It is, for example, especially common in the Sierra de Gredos and Sieraa de Guadarrama near Madrid.
