Host plants:
The larvae feed on oaks, often Quercus coccifera.
Habitat:
Nycteola columbana inhabits all oak-rich habitats from open woodland to garrigues.
Life cycle:
The adults hibernate. Larvae are found usually in April and May (only rarely later) on young shoots with webbings like in case of congeners. Supposedly there is mainly only one generation because oaks rarely offer young shoots in Mediterranean summers, except rarely e.g. coppice trees. The adults are prone to aestivate in mountain woodland.
Remarks:
Nycteola columbana is widespread, but rarely common, in southern Europe (south of the Alps) and Asia Minor.
