Habitat:
The spectacular, large species inhabits scrubland, clear dry forests, rocky, dwarf shrub-rich slopes and other sunny and only extensively used places.

Life cycle:
Pamphagus sardeus is very early adult. I met adults in Sardinia in mid-May 2012, both in coastal areas (Costa Verde) and in the central mountains at 1000m above sea level. The animals usually sit on small shrubs and perennials, but could also occasionally be observed when crossing streets.

Endangerment factors:
Pamphagus sardeus is probably not currently endangered.

Remarks:
Pamphagus sardeus is endemic to Sardinia and there quite common in maquis. Closely related species, for example, live in north Africa and some Mediterranean islands (e.g. Pamphagus marmoratus in Sicily).
