Habitat:
Prionotropis appula inhabits hot and dry grasslands and pasture steppes with changing density of grass and herbaceous vegetation, partly also with spots of open soil and usually also stones and rocks.
Life cycle:
The adults appear mostly in June and July, often already in late May. In summer they quickly die of heat and drought. Hibernation takes place as larva as it is typical for most Pamphagidae.
Remarks:
Prionotropis appula is endemic to the southern mainland Italy south of Rome and the Gargano.
