Habitat:
Pholidoptera littoralis inhabits meadows with higher growing grasses (preferably near forests), scrub, bushy slopes, forb communities, forest edges, garrigues and open woodland.
Remarks:
Pholidoptera littoralis occurs from Southern Switzerland (S-Ticino) and adjacing parts of Italy (ssp. insubricus) across Trieste, Slovenia and Croatia to Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania (here ssp. similis).
Hints on determination:
The ventral side of the similar P. fallax is pure yellow, whereas it is slightly more greenish-yellow in Pholidoptera littoralis. The ovipositor of Pholidoptera littoralis is longer and straight, whereas it is distinctly curved in P. fallax.
