Nutrition:
The species leads a predatory life and eats mostly other insects.
Habitat:
Saga hellenica occurs in steppe-like grasslands, dry shrub, hot slopes and xerothermic woodland edges.
Life cycle:
The adults are found between late June and probably October.
Endangerment factors:
Saga hellenica will be endangered in the long term due to the decline in habitats because of cultivation (afforestation, agricultural intensification, solar parks) and overbuilding (industry, tourism).
Remarks:
Saga hellenica is found in Southeastern Europe (Albania, Macedonia, Greece). I found individuals in the triangle Albania, Macedonia, Greece on the Greek side on a steppe-like hillside, where also Pyrgus cinarae occurs. Additionally I observed Saga hellenica in the Askio mountains (Siatista), the Olympus region and the northern Pindhos range near Grevena and Samarina in the vicinity of Quercus frainetto and pine woodlands.
