Habitat:
Decticus aprutianus occurs in pastures, meadows and slopes of higher altitudes (app. from 1400m).

Remarks:
Decticus aprutianus is endemic to the southern part of Italy (Abruzzes). In Gran Sasso & Monti della Laga National Park the taxon aprutianus occurs in the more Southern Gran Sasso whereas D. verrucivorus occurs in the Monti della Laga (e.g. Monte Mezzo di Campotosto). Though aprutianus is nowadays usually listed as a species of its own a subspecies status under verrucivorus would be more appropriate.
