Host plants:
The larvae feed on a quite broad variety of plants: Vaccinium, Oxycoccus palustris, Andromeda polifolia, Rubus chamaemorus and Polygonum viviparum.
Habitat:
Boloria frigga inhabits bogs and related habitats, often with trees (birch, pine) or in open woodlands.
Life cycle:
The pretty larvae hibernate twice. The adults occur in June and July, most often in late June and early July. Oviposition could be observed on moss and Oxycoccus palustris. Usually all mentioned hhost plants occur together.
Remarks:
Boloria frigga has an Holarctic distribution. It is restricted to the North, but can be found more southerly than strictly Arctic species. In Europa it can be found southwards to central Sweden.
