Host plants:
The larvae feed on grasses like Carex and Eriophorum.
Habitat:
Erebia embla is a typical inhabitant of woody bogs and other wet woodlands. Most often open pine woodland, preferably in the transition zone to open bog, but also within open forests.
Life cycle:
The butterflies occur in June and early July. They often rest on trunks and many individuals seem to spend the night in the treetop. The larva hibernates twice.
Remarks:
Erebia embla occurs from Scandinavia and the eastern Baltic across N-Asia to N-Korea.
