Habitat:
Paracaloptenus caloptenoides inhabits especially stony or sandy, dry habitats (slopes, gappy grasslands etc.) in medium-high altitudes mostly between 800 and 1600m asl (sometimes even lower). I observed it in Northern Greece several times in gravel-rich rocky street embankments. Important are surely open ground spots as it is the case with the related species.

Life cycle:
The adults appear in summer. They stay on the ground especially at the foot of the embankments and take refuge in the nearby vegetation when necessary.

Endangerment factors:
Paracaloptenus caloptenoides is endangered especially at its northwestern border due to habitat loss (bush encroachment, afforestation, intensification).

Remarks:
Paracaloptenus caloptenoides occurs in Southeastern Europe from Central Greece to east Austria (only extremely rare and local), Slovakia and to the Black Sea.
