Habitat:
Chorthippus karelini inhabits wet meadows and pastures, often in the vicinity of lakes and rivers.
Life cycle:
The adults appear between early summer and autumn. They are often common in their habitats. In the Sila mountains Chorthippus dorsatus is most often a companion species.
Remarks:
Chorthippus karelini occurs from the southern Ukraine and eastern Turkey eastward far into temperate Asia. It is found in southern Italy in the Sila mountains in the subspecies bruttius. Other alleged sites in Italy are uncertain and may constitute misidentifications.
Together with Ch. oschei, Ch. lacustris and Ch. albomarginatus Chorthippus karelini belongs to a closely related group within the genus Chorthippus.
