Habitat:
Oedipoda aurea inhabits rocky places and screes up to medium altitudes. In Samos Island (Kerkis) I recorded it on rocky slopes between 700 and 1100m in late June 2016.
Remarks:
The Western Asian species occurs in Europe only in a few east Aegean Islands near to the Turkish mainland, e.g. Samos, Kos and Rhodes.
The hind wings are yellow. Occasionally also other Oedipoda species may show hind wings with yellowish touch. This may leed to confusions. So the individual from Rodos which had been shwon here until 2018 was indeed an O. miniata.
