Habitat:
Dociostaurus genei colonizes dune terrain, coastal areas and rocky, dry areas on mountain slopes and elsewhere within the country.
Life cycle:
The adults appear from June to October. They are not easy to catch as it is also the case with D. maroccanus.
Endangerment factors:
Many drylands still disappear due to agricultural intensification, urban sprawl and tourism.
Remarks:
Dociostaurus genei occurs locally in N-Africa and S-Europe except Greece. It is most widespread in the Southwestern Mediterranean, including Spain, southeast France and in the far west of Liguria.
It has locally also been recorded in Turkey and the Levant.
