Habitat:
Dociostaurus hispanicus inhabits nutrient-poor, dry and stony pastures, slopes and other places with much bare soil, most often between 400 and 1250m.
Life cycle:
I recorded the adults in autumn (mid-October) in 1200m near Avila. Dociostaurus hispanicus should be mature between early summer and autumn, according to altitude. Dociostaurus hispanicus has weak bluish hind wings and is closely related to the east European Dociostaurus brevicollis.
Remarks:
Dociostaurus hispanicus is endemic to the more central part of the Iberian peninsula (especially west and northwest of Madrid, locally also to the south between Madrid and Granada).
