Habitat:
Platycleis macedonica usually inhabits grazed, scarcely vegetated, nutrient-poor and often also stony areas with only low-growing grasses. I recorded it syntopically with steppe species like the Lepidoptera Eublemma rosea, Euchalcia chlorocaris and Melitaea ornata.
Life cycle:
The adults appear from mid-June. In early June 2024 I recorded still only larvae (Livera near Kozani), but in mid-July 2025 only adults. The small animals are easily overlooked. In late October 2023 I did not record any individual, but still Bucephaloptera bucephala.
Remarks:
Platycleis macedonica occurs in central parts of northern Greece, in most of the Republic of North Macedonia and smaller parts of southern Serbia and western Bulgaria.
