Habitat:
Omocestus femoralis inhabits stony mountain pastures with low-growing and gappy vegetation.
Life cycle:
The adults occur in summer and early autumn. I recorded them in late September/early October in 1700m near Santiago de la Espada.
Remarks:
Omocestus femoralis is endemic to southern Spain, i.e. in the mountains of eastern Andalucia (e.g. Jaen: Santiago de la Espada, Almeria: Sierra de Maria) and eastern adjacent provinces (especially Albacete, Murcia: e.g. Sierra de Espuna) between 1300 and 2100m. Omocestus femoralis is - among others - distinguishable from the in Iberian mountains common O. minutissimus by usually red hind tibia and a stouter stature with large head.
