Habitat:
Poecilimon mytilenensis inhabits open and half-open habitats of all kinds. It is often especially common in open Cistus covers, but also in other garigue.
Life cycle:
Poecilimon mytilenensis is found as adult in spring from April to June or - in higher altitudes - still in early July. In late May 2019 larvae only occurred above 800m. In coastal areas the peak was already over. The animals usually rest on small shrub like Cistus or Sarcopoterium, but also thistles etc.
Remarks:
Poecilimon mytilenensis is endemic to Lesbos Island (northeast Aegean Islands, Greece). It is common on this island. Two subspecies (ssp. mytilinensis, ssp. brevissimus) have been described which differ only slightly. There are obviously no barriers that would prevent spreading.
