Habitat:
Poecilimon ornatus inhabits herb-rich mountain meadows, edges, Pteridium aquilinum stands and forest margins.
Remarks:
In Europe Poecilimon ornatus occurs from S-Austria and NE-Italy (Monte Baldo) in the north to Greece in the south.
Hints on determination:
In the south, there are similar large Poecilimon species such as P. affinis. Poecilimon ornatus can be determinated as male by its cerci which are not curved as much as in P. affinis (90 degrees in affinis).
