Host plants:
In Samos Island, the larvae feed on Hypericum empetrifolium, especially on the flowers.

Habitat:
The larvae have been recorded in sunny and hot rubble in embankments along a track through Arbutus andrachne-rich maquis and partly open pine woodland. Also rocky places and garigues should be inhabited.

Life cycle:
The moths occur in early spring (late February to April). The larvae develop in April and May. The pupa hibernates.

Remarks:
Docirava musculata occurs in Asia Minor. Within the area of the European Union it is so far only known from Samos Island (Greece), where it has been discovered by Dieter Fritsch. He also found the larva and showed me the place in May 2017. There we recorded some more larvae.
