Host plants:
The larvae feed mostly on broom, but sometimes also other Fabaceae and further genera like Calluna.
Habitat:
Perconia strigillaria inhabits heathland, bushy grasslands and sunny, open forests with broom.
Life cycle:
The larvae hibernate. I recorded them on broom in the French Alpes-Maritimes near Nice in October 2013. The moths are on the wing especially in May and June.
Endangerment factors:
Perconia strigillaria has already considerably declined in Central Europe due to loss of heathland and due to dark forest management.
Remarks:
Perconia strigillaria is locally recorded in many parts of Europe and is also known from Asia.
