Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous mainly on deciduous woods such as Betula, Alnus, Quercus, etc. Important are for example oaks (Quercus robur, etc.) on which I found regularly larvae on the eastern Swabian Alb. I found some larvae also on lime (Tilia platyphyllos). There are also observations of caterpillars feeding in the herb layer.

Habitat:
Jodis lactearia inhabits hedges, forests, young plantations and other warm and grove-rich habitats. The moth rises in the mountains not high (hardly above 1000m above sea level).

Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The moths fly in one or two generations from April to September with peak in May/June and late July/August. The caterpillar lives from mid-May to early October. I found them on the eastern Swabian Alb especially in August/September 2011.

Remarks:
Jodis lactearia occurs in Europe and temperate Asia to Japan. It lacks for example in Northern Scandinavia.
