Host plants:
Most often Rhamnus catharticus, seldom other Rhamnaceae.

Habitat:
Philereme vetulata lives in hedges, bushy calcareous hillsides, forest edges and other places where Rhamnus catharticus occurs.

Life cycle:
The egg is hibernating and the caterpillar occurs between April and early June. It lives in a shelter at the tip of the shoots and can be very common on as well low growing as higher shrubs. The moth flies from late May to early August.

Remarks:
Philereme vetulata occurs in most of Europe and temperate Asia to Japan.
