Host plants:
The larva lives polyphagous in the herb layer. I found it for example on Origanum.
Habitat:
Xanthorhoe rupicola inhabits especially humid, rocky places in the mountains and the laurel forest belt.
Life cycle:
Xanthorhoe rupicola is probably on the wing year-round. I observed adults and caterpillars in March 2013 (Encumeada). The larvae hide near the ground and feed mainly at night.
Remarks:
Xanthorhoe rupicola is endemic to Madeira.
