Host plants:
The larvae feed on Consolida species.
Habitat:
Aegle semicana inhabits dry and hot steppe areas, rockyslopes, pastures and herb-rich, traditionally managed fields.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The moths occur in one or two generations between May and September. I recorded numerous larvae in an dry and hot sheep pasture near Melnik in SW-Bulgaria in late July 2015 by collecting flowering Consolida.
Remarks:
Aegle semicana occurs in SE-Europe (NW to E-Austria) as wellasin parts of Italy, N-Africa and W-Asia.
