Host plants:
The caterpillars live on Tilia species.
Habitat:
Tiliacea citrago colonizea Tilia-rich deciduous forests and individual lime tree groups planted in open areas.
Life cycle:
The egg overwinters. Usually it is attached singly below the base of a terminal bud, more rarely also two eggs). I found the eggs, for example, in November 2012 pretty common on young lime bushes in the undergrowth and on coppice shoots on a sunny forest edge (Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany). The caterpillar is found from mid-April to June. The caterpillars live between spun leaves and are often found on low bushes (search artifact?), coppice shoots or the lower branches. The moth flies from mid-August through October.
Remarks:
Tiliacea citrago is widespread in Europe.
