Host plants:
The species is polyphagous on herbs.

Habitat:
Cryptocala chardinyi should inhabit edges in open boreal forest and similar habitats.

Life cycle:
The caterpillar overwinters and the moths fly from late June to August.

Remarks:
Cryptocala chardinyi is distributed from eastern Poland to Siberia. I owe the pictured individuals Christian Siegel (Hohenems, Austria).
