Host plants:
The young caterpillars live in kittens of willows and poplars, the older ones then on the ground also various herbs.
Habitat:
The quite widespread species inhabits softwood stocks of all kinds.
Life cycle:
The eggs overwinter. The young caterpillars live in the kitten from March, the later instars until early June on the ground. The flight time is from late August to November.
Remarks:
The distribution extends across large parts of Europe and Western Asia.
