Host plants:
The caterpillar lives on grasses. I found it on Calamagrostis epigejos and Carex brizoides.
Habitat:
Protodeltote pygarga inhabits clearings, clear cuttings, edges and undergrowth in forests and more rarely also other woody habitats of all kinds.
Life cycle:
The adults fly from late May to July. The caterpillar is found especially in August and September and is well detectable by tapping grass clumps. The pupa overwinters.
Remarks:
Protodeltote pygarga is widespread in Europe and temperate Asia and reaches eastward Korea.
