Host plants:
The larvae feed on Chenopodiaceae (today Amaranthaceae), according to literature: Chenopodium fruticosum, Atriplex portulacoides, Salsola soda. I recorded the larvae on Caroxylon vermiculatum (= Salsola vermiculata) near Zaragoza and reared them subsequently on Salsola oppositifolia Desf.
Habitat:
Eremohadena chenopodiphaga inhabits dry landscapes, salt steppes, coasts and other xerothermous habitats with the host plants.
Life cycle:
The adults occur in several generations. Typical are adults between late February and April, between late May and early July and again in autumn. But gereally, they may occur in most of the year, perhaps with minimum in winter and the driest time of summer. The larvae usually live on especially hot spots with open soil.
Remarks:
Eremohadena chenopodiphaga occurs in Europe in the salt steppes of the south, e.g. in the Iberian Peninsula and rarely in S-France, Italy, S-Greece and more common in Cyprus. Besides that Eremohadena chenopodiphaga is found in N-Africa and parts of Asia.
