Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous near the ground on parts of herbs and probably also grasses.
Habitat:
Cladocerotis optabilis inhabits xerothermic, often rocky areas.
Life cycle:
The larva develops in the spring and early summer. It rests then long as prepupa before they pupate in autumn. The moths fly from autumn to winter.
Remarks:
Cladocerotis optabilis occurs in north Africa and the Iberian Peninsula.
