Host plants:
The larvae are polyphagous, but often feed on Vaccinium species.

Habitat:
Hadula melanopa colonizes alpine mats from 1700 msl. I found larvae frequently under stones in areas near glacier in the central Alps as for example in the Austrian Ötztal.

Life cycle:
The moths fly from June to August. The caterpillar lives from July to September.

Remarks:
Hadula melanopa occurs in the European high mountains (Alps, Pyrenees etc.).
