Host plants:
The larvae feed especially on Galium sylvaticum, but probably also other Galium and Asperula species.

Habitat:
Catarhoe rubidata inhabits forests (e.g. beech forests), where the larva can be found along roadsides and in embankments aon Galium sylvaticum.

Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates and the moths fly from May to August in a single or two overlapping generations. The larva can be found from late June to September. I found it in areas with only one generation as the Swabian Alb near Heidenheim in August during the day on the host plants.

Endangerment factors:
Catarhoe rubidata is still only moderately endangered even if it can not survive in dense, dark spruce forests and is in decline due to the destruction of lean edges through dense afforestation and eutrophication.

Remarks:
Catarhoe rubidata is widespread in Europe and Western Asia.
