Host plants:
The larvae feed on Rubiaceae (Galium and Asperula).

Habitat:
Colostygia sericeata inhabits nutrient-poor grasslands, steppe-like slopes, pastures and other mostly stony or rocky places, preferredly in contact with open woodland.

Life cycle:
The moths occur especially in October and November. They are easily flushed from the low vegetation. The eggs hibernate and the larvae develop in spring.

Remarks:
Colostygia sericeata occurs from the Southern Alps to the Western Balkans (nominate subspecies) as well as in Central and Southern Italy (ssp. holli). The latter is also found in N-Africa.
