Host plants:
The caterpillar lives on grasses (Poaceae). I found them at Memmingen in Dactylis glomerata.

Habitat:
Luperina testacea inhabits extensively managed, grassy habitats of all kinds and advances also into residential areas.

Life cycle:
The young caterpillars live according to literature in the grass stems. After the winter it lives in the root collar region or on the roots and feeds shallow underground and ground-level parts of the grasses. Pupation takes place in a earth cocoon. The moths fly in a single generation from late July to early October.

Remarks:
Luperina testacea occurs from Northwest Africa across Europe (not in Northern Scandinavia and the southern Balkans) to Asia Minor.
