Host plants:
The larvae feed on grasses. I recorded a larva on Deschampsia caespitosa (Silvretta, W-Austria, 2000m, September 2019).
Habitat:
Mythimna anderreggii inhabits various grasslands (pastures, meadows, rocky slopes etc.) in mountainous regions usually above 1000m and up to 3000m.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates and the moths occur quite early from May to August (according to altitude). The lava develops in summer and early autumn.
Remarks:
Mythimna anderreggii occurs in some higher mountain ranges of Central and S-Europe and Asia. In Europe it is common in the Alps, but is also found e.g. in the Pyrenees and the mountains of the Balkans.
