Host plants:
The caterpillar feeds on grasses (Poaceae).
Habitat:
Mythimna velutina inhabits open taiga, humid mountain areas and similar locations.
Life cycle:
The moths are on the wing according to literature in June/July. The caterpillar overwinters.
Remarks:
Mythimna velutina occurs in Europe only in the extreme east (southern Urals) and is spread eastward to Korea.
