Host plants:
The larvae feed on flowers and fruits of Helianthemum species.
Habitat:
Omia cymbalariae inhabits nurtient-poor pastures, mountain meadows and garigues with the larval host plant from lower hills up to 2600m.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The moths fly in the sunshine between April (Mediterranean) and July/early August (high altitudes). The larvae develop up to 4 weeks after flight time. They can be searched by their characteristic feeding scars: eroded Helianthemum capsules.
Remarks:
Omia cymbalariae occurs in some mountainous areas of S-Europe from Spain across France, the southern and parts of the southern central Alps (e.g. Valais) to the Balkans (without Greece).
