Host plants:
The larvae feed on poplars (Populus sp.).
Habitat:
Ipimorpha subtusa inhabits poplar-rich habitats of all kinds, especially riparian woodlands and wetlands. It prefers warm and humid sites, but is also found in medium-high mountains.
Life cycle:
The egg hibernates. The larvae develop between April and June in shelters of spun leaves. The moths are on the wing between late June and August or early September.
Remarks:
Ipimorpha subtusa occurs from Europe across temperate Asia to Japan.
