Host plants:
The larva feeds polyphagously on herbs and dwarf shrubs. I recorded it on Vaccinium oxycoccus in a dewatered bog (SW-Bavaria).

Habitat:
Idaea muricata inhabits more or less wet habitats of all kinds, such as fens, borders of bogs, ditches, woodlands etc. I recorded a moths in a seldom mown nature garden with pond (SW-Bavaria).

Life cycle:
The larva hibernates and is mature in May or as late as June. It usually rests near the ground in the herb layer or litter. Moths appear between mid-June and August.

Remarks:
Idaea muricata occurs in Europe and temperate Asia.
