Open steppe woodland with Quercus pubescens, Fraxinus ornus etc. [N]

Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous in the herb and litter layer and also occurs on woody plants.

Habitat:
Idaea deversaria inhabits dry warm edge-rich and bright locations in oak scrubs, on shrubbery dry and rocky slopes, forest-near slopes and clearings and in the Mediterranean maquis - generally in edgy forest gap systems.

Life cycle:
The moths fly from June to early August, usually in a single generation. The caterpillar overwinters.

Endangerment factors:
In the north of their range Idaea deversaria is clearly threatened by the darkening processes in once dry warm, light forests through dense afforestation, succession and eutrophication. South of the Alps, however, Idaea deversaria is often more common and less endangered.

Remarks:
Idaea deversaria is distributed from Morocco across Southern and Central Europe (north to Southern Scandinavia) and Turkey to Central Asia.
