Here the larvae can be tapped from blackthorn bushes during and shortly after the flowering time (early May 2010) [N]

Host plants:
The larvae are polyphagous on deciduous woods, e.g. flowers and buds of shrubs and dwarf shrubs. I tapped young caterpillars from flowering Prunus spinosa. Mature larvae should change in the herbaceous layer according to literature.

Habitat:
Conistra rubiginosa inhabits hedgerows, woodland edges, gardens and other habitats that are rich in woody plants.

Life cycle:
The adult hibernates and flies from late August to early May. The caterpillar lives from April to June.

Remarks:
Conistra rubiginosa is widespread in Europe (with the exception of the far north), but reaches Asia apparently only in Turkey.
