Host plants:
Scrophularia species, especially Scrophularia canina
Habitat:
Cucullia erythrocephala inhabits hot sites with Scrophularia, often on rubble or rocks. Typical habitats are garigues, dry river beds or rocky slopes.
Life cycle:
The adults appear already from late February to June, according to site and altitude. The larvae occur from late March (e.g. 2019 at Cabo de Gata) to June or July. The larvae feed openly on the flower or fruit stands. The pupa (respectively the partially developed moth within the pupa) hibernates.
Remarks:
Cucullia erythrocephala occurs in NW-Africa (Morocco, Tunesia) and the Iberian Peninsula.
